Sintering is the production of metallic parts with the desired final shape obtained directly from metal powders without casting metal. A lot of small parts for the car industry are manufactured with sintering process. Metallic powders are mixed with an organic lubricant, compressed and sintered in a furnace where, thanks to the high temperature, the metal particulates form strong bonds between each other.
Air Liquide has developed the capability to master the atmosphere composition in each zone of the furnace to meet the requirements of the different components to be treated.
